Baptist leaders offering an alternative to the doctrine’s TULIP tenets include Paige Patterson (Total Depravity), Richard Land (Unconditional Election), David Allen (Limited Atonement), Steve Lemke (Irresistible Grace), and Kenneth Keathley (Perseverance of the Saints).

    David L. Allen (PhD, The University of Texas at Arlington) is distinguished professor of preaching, George W. Truett Chair of Ministry, and director of the Southwestern Center for Text-Driven Preaching at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. A longtime pastor, Allen has written and edited several books, including The Extent of the Atonement & The Atonement with B&H Academic.

    Steve W. Lemke (PhD, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) is vice president for institutional assessment and professor of philosophy and ethics at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
